The Wisdom of Neil Kinnock

I was researching Malcolm Rifkind's previous on the subject of devolution when I came across an astonishing outburst from Neil Kinnock. During a Commons debate he first refers to the SNP as fascists, and then, in response to an SNP MP's statement that they have no desire to interfere in domestic English legislation, he blurts out:

"But the Scots take English money."

I wonder if he still holds those views to this day.

If I remember rightly,

If I remember rightly, kinnock came out of some devolution convention a few years ago and said he was afraid of a nasty and dangerous English Nationalism.
They have a good right to be afraid.

All part of the good old

All part of the good old Labour/nationalist turf wars!

Kinnock of course was the leading Labour rebel against devolution in 1979 and I doubt whether his views have changed much since.

There’s a certain irony in the fact that when the English electorate rejected a fiercely anti-devolutionist Welshman the Labour party chose a passionately pro-devolutionist Scot in his place.

Kinnock calling anybody else

Kinnock calling anybody else nasty is quintessential copper-kettle-blackism.
